Maurice Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortileges and L'Heure espagnole
February 2-February 5, 2011
Add Review/Comment
Maurice Ravel only wrote two operas, but each is a gem of orchestral color, inventive storytelling, and his unique compositional voice. Lust, time management and an obliging work ethic swing the pendulum of the delightfully frisky L’Heure espagnole (The Spanish Hour). A story by Colette that is part fairy tale and part nightmare comes to life in L’Enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Spells). Sung in French with English surtitles. Andrew Altenbach, music director and conductor. Nathan Troup, director.
