The evocative and not-so-minimalistic scores of two icons of minimalist music propel the dances Jose Mateo presents with In the Mind’s Eye. The two Mateo ballets featured reveal a web of relationships and situations that provoke the individual imagination.  Each member of the audience will have his or her own insight into the layered "stories" that advance and recede In the Mind's Eye of the beholder.

The concert features the revealing Streams (2009), set to Terry Riley’s The Cusp of Magic for String Quartet and Pipa and the fast-paced, dynamic Fearless Symmetries (2008), set to John Adams’ Fearful Symmetries.

In the Mind’s Eye offers a unique theater experience with an extraordinary close-up view of the dancers, reserved cabaret-style seating and cocktails during the show.  Recently hailed by Boston Magazine as “Best of Boston 2011 Dance Performance”, the glorious Sanctuary Theatre is home to Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre and considered one of the area’s most spectacular performance spaces.
