The Zombies LIVE in Concert Featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent (SOLD OUT!)
July 7, 2013
Featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent Special Guest Opener: Et Tu Brucé The Zombies were the second UK group following the Beatles to score a #1 hit in America. With gorgeous melodies, breathy vocals, choral back-up harmonies and a jazzy influence, The Zombies ruled the 1960’s with hit singles like “She’s Not There” and “Tell Her No”. Ironically, the group broke-up in 1968 just prior to achieving their greatest success – the chart-topping single “Time of the Season”, from their swan-song album “Odessey & Oracle” Ironically enough, they only released two albums in the 60’s, but those two albums were full of amazing hits. Their second album, Odessey & Oracle, was recorded in 1967 right before they split up, but it remains one of their greatest artistic statements. Odessey & Oracle, and yes that is how they spelled Odessey due to the cover artist famously misspelling it, was recently ranked #80 in Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. After The Zombies break up, Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent pursued solo careers. They both met with huge success on the solo front, but agreed to rejoin forces after a 30 year hiatus. They both felt their musical partnership was far more than the sum of the parts. They did not immediately call themselves The Zombies though. Rod was resisting that urge in order to respect the band’s legacy. Finally in 2004, they released a new album, As Far As I Can See…, under the name The Zombies. The ten songs that make up Breathe Out, Breathe In are impeccably crafted pieces; the harmonies are rich, the melodies full, the arrangements exquisite, the organ and piano fresh and the production intuitive. Uncut Magazine raves “Argent and Blunstone find Zombie heaven again.” After listening to the tracks, Rod and Colin realized something, “When we played the first mixes back, Colin and I were surprised to hear many resonances of our first band on the record, because they weren’t achieved consciously.” Now is your chance to experience The Zombies in concert since most of you probably either missed their short touring stint or you were not a fan until after the breakup. They are touring with original members Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent along with Jim Rodford, Tom Toomey and Steve Rodford.
