Tony Williams' Urban Nutcracker
Presented by Urban Nutcracker at John Hancock Hall
December 6 - December 22, 2013
Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker, Boston’s original holiday classic, is back for its 13th season and packed with more magic for the whole family. Fusing Tchaikovsky’s classic score with Duke Ellington’s jazz interpretation, Urban Nutcracker puts a modern spin on the 19th Century fairy tale and transports the audience to an enchanted world not unlike their own.
The diversity Urban Nutcracker delivers in dance and music is matched by the diversity of performers you will see on the stage. Urban Nutcracker is a reflection and celebration of our multi-cultural communities brought to life by passionate and talented dancers and performers of all colors, creeds, sexual orientations and experiences. Constantly innovating to bring you the latest in dance and music while staying true to the spirit of the Nutcracker, this year’s Urban Nutcracker adds spectacular new dimensions including updated choreography, new costumes and surprise guest walk-on roles!
Urban Nutcracker stars Boston native and So You Think You Can Dance Champion Russell Ferguson. Ferguson was the first contestant to win the competition with the urban dance style known as Krumping.
