Cantata Singers & Ensemble

Cantata Singers was founded in 1964 to prepare and present what was then a virtually unknown repertoire: the cantatas of J.S. Bach. Programming unknown works reflects the bold and daring spirit of our founders that has guided our programming ever since. Essential to our mission are works old and new. familiar and unfamiliar, that includes new interpretations of masterworks, performances of little-known works, and the commissioning and premiere of new works. Cantata Singers presents an annual series of four main programs with its 44-voice chorus and chamber orchestra in the 1053-seat Jordan Hall at New England Conservatory in Boston as well as a chamber series and a music composition and performance program, Classroom Cantatas, in the Boston Public Schools.
