Online Ticket Sales FAQs
I'm having trouble submitting my order. What do I do?
Email us at customerservice@artsboston.org, or call customer service at 617-262-8632 ext 229.
How will I get my tickets?
Unless otherwise noted, your tickets will be held at the theatre’s box office on the day of the show. Please check the show’s “Admission Info” section for details.
Can I purchase these online tickets at either BosTix Booth?
No. All online sales are for advance (before the day-of-show) tickets only, and all booth sales are for day-of-show tickets only. Ticket inventories are different for each program.
How do I use a Gift Certificate?
BosTix cannot currently accept Gift Certificates online so please call us at: 617-262-8632 ext 229 and we will be happy to process your order over the phone to ensure the gift certificate is applied to your order.
I don't see a show listed that I know was in your brochure. What do I do?
The show is most likely sold out. We monitor sales in real time, and we remove shows that are no longer available.
I don't see a show that I know is playing in Boston. What do I do?
BosTix does not necessarily have discount tickets to every show playing, nor do we always have tickets more than a few weeks in advance. Visit www.ArtsBoston.org and search for the show you are interested in seeing. If BosTix has discount tickets to any of the performances, you will be able to click to purchase them from the event's page. Otherwise, you will be directed to the main box office website to see if there are any tickets available in general.
What if I forget my password?
You can change your password by clicking "My Account" in the black bar and following the steps for password recovery.
Why is there a $2 per order charge for online orders?
ArtsBoston is a not-for-profit organization and in order to offer services such as online ticketing we charge a small handling fee to our customers to pay for general administrative costs and Credit Card company fees. Please note that this is a per order charge, not per ticket or show. So no matter how many shows you order, as long as the order is placed at the same time there is only one fee.
How are ticket prices calculated?
All tickets are sold at half-price plus a nominal service charge (up to $6.50/ticket) based on the full ticket price. This service charge helps fund our programs and makes half-price ticketing available to the community. Sometimes, our member groups add an additional restoration fee (up to $2/ticket) which we pass on to our customers. Patrons would also be charged this fee if they were to purchase full-price tickets directly through the venue.
Because of the nature of our service, all sales are final. Sorry, but no changes, upgrades, refunds or exchanges are possible.
What if I lose or don't receive my tickets?
In most cases, BosTix tickets will be available at the venue box office will-call window one hour before the performance. Check the show description page for details. If we have specifically denoted that your order will be mailed to you and you have lost your tickets or have not received them within three days prior to your event date, please call 617-262-8632 ex229 or email us at customerservice@artsboston.org, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Remember to bring a copy of your confirmation e-mail with you to the venue!
Where will my seats be?
Many of the events we sell are performed in small, intimate spaces or have general seating so your seats are often as good as full-price ones. Sometimes our seats are in the balcony, and when we know in advance, we will list the location.
I didn't find my answer here. What do I do?

In Person at the BosTix Booths FAQs
What time are your booths open?
Please visit our Hours and Locations page for information on our booth hours.
Where are the booths and how do I get to them?
Please visit our Hours and Locations page for directions to both booths.
How will I know what shows are available on any given day?
The tickets offered at BosTix change on a daily basis. Feel free to visit either of our BosTix booth locations for a daily show listing, or visit www.bostix.org and click on: See a Show Today, for a complete listing for that day.
Can I call ahead of time to find out what’s available, pricing or to purchase tickets?
Specific availability inquires, prices and purchases can only be made in person at either booth location.
How can I be sure to get the best tickets?
Some ticket quantities may be limited. To ensure you have the greatest selection we recommend that you:
- Review the day's selections ahead of time, or online at www.bostix.org – See a Show Today
- Have an alternate show in mind if your first choice isn't available—be sure to check the posters at the booth.
- Make sure you bring cash – both booths will soon be able to accept credit and debit cards for all transactions but at this time, most tickets can only be purchased with cash.
- Arrive at the booth as early as possible – it is not uncommon for a line to form starting as early as 20 or 30 minutes before we open.
Are the same shows and seats available at both booths?
Yes. We use a computerized ticketing system, which allows both booths to sell from the same pool of tickets.
I saw a show available on bostix.org that isn’t listed on the See a Show Tonight page. Can I still purchase tickets for it at the booths?
BosTix.org lists what’s available for ½ price tickets for advance sale only; tickets cannot be purchased for shows on the same day through the website. If the show is not listed on the See a Show Tonight page that means that same day ½ price tickets are not available at the booths.
Can I use my credit card when paying for tickets at the booth?
Yes. The booths accept both cash and credit cards for payment of tickets.
Do you add a service charge to the half-price tickets?
Yes, all tickets have a small service charge added which helps fund our programs and keep half-price tickets available.
BosTix Booth Service charge range is $3.50 - $7.50 per ticket. Transaction Fee is 3% per ticket (for all tickets sold through Ticketmaster only)
Do you sell Ticketmaster tickets?
Yes, both BosTix booths are retail outlets for Ticketmaster. You can purchse full price tickets for Ticketmaster events in the Northeast, pick up tickets purchased online (if you selected the retail outlet pick-up option) and buy TM giftcards. For Ticketmaster full price sales, we can accept cash and credit/debit cards. Ticketmaster service charges vary.
What else can I get at the BosTix booths?
In addition to tickets to shows and performances, the BosTix booths also offer:
- Information and schedules for performing arts groups
- Old Town Trolley Tour tickets
- Bean Town Trolley Tour tickets
- Maps
- Boston GO card
- Freedom Trail and other tourist information
